Tropical System Milton
Tropical system Milton is currently forecasted to become a CAT 3 hurricane before it makes land fall in the Tampa area and head toward Brevard County on Wednesday and Thursday.
The next 3 days should be monitored by you, and necessary preparations should be made to protect your personal property.
Suggestions for Personal Preparation:
- Make sure you have enough food and water for 2 - 3 days after the storm
- Make sure you have enough medication on hand
- Make sure you have enough pet food
- Make sure you have gas in your vehicle
- Make sure your cell phone and all back up power packs are fully charged
Suggestions for Property Preparation:
- Bring in ALL items that will blow around your yard in high winds.
- If you have them or wish to have them - install storm shutters.
- DO NOT trim trees/brush and leave the trimmings in the yard. Place them in a trash can.
If you are in a commercial building on a lower level, place all unplugged electrical items (computers, fans, cords, etc) on top of a desk, in case of flooding.
If you are in a commercial building on a top floor, cover your unplugged electrical items (computers, fans, cords, etc) with trash bags or tarps, in case of roof damage.
If you choose to evacuate:
- Shut off your main power breaker
- Shut off your main water supply
- DO NOT LEAVE THE PETS
After the storm:
- If you loose power and have a generator - DO NOT PLACE THE GENERATOR IN THE HOUSE OR THE GARAGE while it is in use. It should be placed OUTSIDE during use.
- Contact me should you have any property damage via email or text message so I can better keep track of who needs what. I will have someone get to you as quickly as they can.
Until then, please make sure you pay close attention to the local weather and the Brevard County Emergency Management for more up to date information.
